I love music, especially (as mentioned in my previous blog post). Now, I'm doing an EP(mini-album) review on Prospekt's March by Coldplay.(nice title, innit?)
Here's the album cover:
OK, here's the lowdown..
Prospekt's March is actually a mini-album which contains tracks recorded during the Viva La Vida sessions but never made the final cut. Besides unreleased tracks, Prospekt's March contains remixed tracks that some of the fans are familiar of. Let's check out as I review the EP one song at a time.
#1 : Life in Technicolor II
If you listen to Viva La Vida, the song Life in Technicolor is just a 2-minute instrumental intro. This one is the extended version, meaning this is a full song(with lyrics). This is one of my favourite tracks in the EP and it has solid lyrics but still sticks to their bipolar theme...
#2: Postcards From Far Away
Okay, this is not technically a song. This is just a transition to the next song. This features Chris Martin playing a relaxing piano song for about 43 seconds...nuff' said here...
#3: Glass of Water
Man, this could have been in the VLV album, shite. This is also one of my favourite songs and to me, it doesn't put me to sleep(unlike the hidden tracks in VLV which are quite gloomy)
It's somehow energetic at the beginning and ends with the archetypical piano outro by Chris Martin himself. Good song.
#4: Rainy Day
I was impressed by this 80's-inspired track. It begins with a relaxing, catchy intro and gets interesting until the end. I like this track but this is more of a B-side worthy track.
#5: Prospekt's March/Poppyfields
This song is quite mellow according to my perspective. This is more like a slow-paced melancholic war anthem unlike the previous tracks(as mentioned). Then, appears another hidden track. At least this is just a short outro of the song. But still a good song.
#6: Lost+
Well, this is one of the tracks that was from VLV but the band decided to re-release it after they collaborated with a shite rapper who is sheer bollocks: Jay-Z. Yes, they allowed a bloody cunt to rub into one of my favourite Coldplay songs with his rap verse which has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SONG by mentioning some big names like Caesar, Brutus, Judas, Jesus Christ, Biggie and it still sounds like shite..I love Lost+(aka Lost!) but Jay-Z came along and....uhh....fine..Fuck You Jay-Z
#7: Lovers In Japan(Osaka Sun Remix)
This is one of the few remixes in the EP. The only difference between the original version and this one is that in the remix, the same chord is repeated throughout the song. So, no drastic alterations were made and of course, no Jay-Z.
#8: Now My Feet Won't Touch The Ground
OK, the only reason I like this is because this has that tinge of Bob Dylan in it. This only features Chris Martin singing while playing the acoustic guitar. Not a bad song I must say, a good way to end the EP.
Overall, if you like Viva La Vida, you would probably like this one...
Nuff' said..
Cheers,
