The Day The Earth Shattered

If you heard the news already, you probably know what I'm talking about. I was really shocked when I heard the news. I thought it was just a rumour but it's as real as it is...

You still don't know? Let me fill you in with the details, Oasis is NO MORE. Yes, you've heard it, Oasis has split up after Noel Gallagher left the band.

Even though I was totally surprised, I knew it was coming because of the feud between the Gallagher brothers which has been ongoing for a long, long time ever since they started the band...

Here's how it went down:
Founding brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher traded blows in a vicious fight - in which Liam smashed Noel's guitar - just before they were due on stage at a festival in Paris on Friday night. Noel then said the Rock en Seine gig was off and it was the end of Oasis, after making £52million from selling 50million records. A backstage witness said of the fight: 'Liam was goading Noel constantly and then the two just snapped. There were proper punches and Liam smashed up one of Noel's guitars. Liam was like a man possessed. He was swearing constantly and was really angry. 'Medical staff were called, along with security. Noel got out of the ground as quickly as he could. This was a truly vicious fight - quite horrible.' Scottish singer Amy Macdonald, who was also on the bill, wrote on her Twitter page: 'Oasis cancelled with one minute to stage time! Liam smashed Noel's guitar, huuuge fight!' Noel said in a statement yesterday: 'The level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. 'And the lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new.' Now fans wanting refunds in France, Germany and Italy may be left out of pocket, with promoters insisting concerts will go ahead with acts like Kasabian and The Kooks replacing Oasis. Rob Hart, 19, from Nottingham, spent more than £350 on a ticket, Eurostar and hotel package. 'A few pounds back won't compensate for missing Oasis,' he said. 'What happened was an absolute disgrace.' Years of rancour between Mancunians Noel, 42, and Liam, 36, had been coming to the boil for weeks. Last week singer Liam said they travel on separate tour buses, no longer speak and only see each other on stage. Last weekend the band pulled out of the V Festival in Chelmsford which they were meant to headline. They have split before, though, first in 1994 when Liam sang different words to Live Forever, lampooning his brother. Songwriter Noel once said of Liam: 'It's a good thing we don't live in the U.S. where guns are more accessible because I'd have blown his head off by now. The problem is that I can't fire him because me Ma would kill me.' On the latest split he added: 'Dearly beloved, it is with a heavy heart and a sad face that I say this to you: As of Friday, I have been forced to leave the Manchester rock 'n' roll pop group Oasis. 'I would like firstly to offer my apologies to them kids in Paris who'd paid money and waited all day to see us only to be let down AGAIN by the band. 'Apologies are probably not enough, I know, but I'm afraid it's all I've got. 'While I'm on the subject, I'd like to say to the good people of V Festival that experienced the same thing: again, I can only apologise - although I don't know why, it was nothing to do with me. 'I was match fit and ready to be brilliant. Alas, other people in the group weren't up to it. 'I would like to thank all the Oasis fans all over the world. The last 18 years have been truly, truly amazing. A dream come true. I take with me glorious memories. 'Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a family and a football team to indulge. 'I'll see you somewhere down the road. It's been a ******* pleasure.'

As you may know, Oasis did split up before in 1994 and inspired Noel Gallagher to write the song Talk Tonight. Millions of Oasis fans were disappointed and saddened by the news. But don't worry, I still have hope that they will reunite because it happened once, why can't it happen again?

Without Noel Gallagher, there will never be Oasis. Heck, he wrote 99% of the songs from Definitely Maybe to Dig Out Your Soul. C'mon, do you expect Liam to write all their songs. I swear I'm not gonna listen to an Oasis album with every song written by Liam. No, this is not gonna happen. Besides, Noel has a solo album coming out soon and I'm waiting for that...

In conclusion, let's pray that Noel will return to Oasis and continue to make some more awesome music..

Screen Reviews - District 9

As an avid movie-goer, I decided to catch a little movie that's been making quite a buzz titled District 9. Since my skepticism level is moderately high, I wasn't really keen on watching this movie but some good reviews and The Lord of The Rings trilogy director Peter Jackson being the producer, I decided to catch this South African flick. Yes, it is a South African movie. The director, the actors, the setting is all South African, trust me.

So the movie is made in a mockumentary-style movie to give it a more gritty, realistic feel but the movie developed from a documentary for the Discovery Channel to a Transformers meets Alien film. The plot begins with an alien ship landing on Johannesburg during the 1980's. Then, the aliens, known as 'prawns' sought refuge which angered the humans there. So, the
South African government created an area for the aliens known as District 9 in order to segregate the aliens from the humans.

So, the protagonist of the movie, a nerdy, cowardish MNU agent named Wikus van der Merwe was sent to evict the aliens out of District 9. But when he was there, Wikus
was accidentally exposed himself to an alien device containing an unknown fluid which had some serious side effects. Due to the exposure, Wikus slowly mutated into an alien an became a governmental experiment. Knowing that he was betrayed by the people he worked with, Wikus became a fugitive and befriended the aliens who just wanted to go home. Unfortunately, the humans aren't just gonna allow them...

After watching this movie, I was impressed. Not bad for a South African movie...using unknown actors to create a real environment. How the movie potrayed the aliens was realistic enough and the CGI was well used, especially during the final battle sequence which is filled with hardcore violence where everyone gets blown to pieces...

Overall, this is quite a surprising hit, no doubt about it. If you are a Halo fan, there will be similarities to the game's elements beacuse this WAS supposed to be a Halo movie....

Screen Reviews - GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra

So the H1N1 flu has begun its rapid outbreak and I don't give a damn at all. That didn't stop me from watching one of this summer's last few blockbusters, GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Wait, there's no summer in Malaysia at all because technically it's summer all day...

After watching this movie, I was quite impressed by how the movie was done. But what didn't impress me is that the CGI is a little tad overused in the action scenes. Besides that, for those who are fans of GI Joe, I don't think you should be disappointed because this movie shows how everything began. For example, they showed how the war between GI Joe and Cobra began, how James McCullen/Destro attains his silver metallic face, how the rivalry between the two ninjas Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow began, and who is the Cobra Commander.

Well, let me talk about the cast. Despite the star power coming from actors like Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Dennis Quaid, Marlon Wayans and many more, I was only impressed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt's performance as Rex Lewis/The Doctor/Cobra Commander.

In conclusion, don't expect a solid storyline and top-notch acting, just sit back and have fun watching it.....(If you are having fun watching it...)...

Tragedy In Our Midst

Yes people this is happening
This uncertain kind of something
It left people mourning and weeping
The aftermath of someone dying

Tell me, have you experienced this?
A feeling not so bliss
We in the middle of crisis
Tragedy is in our midst

Death, a thing considered taboo
If you feel it, I feel it too
It ain't something new
Murder, a crime so cruel

I ask myself, will we see the light?
Not to give up even if we lose the fight
I'm telling you people, day and night
Protect yourself and others with all your might...

This is dedicated to the people I know who had lost their lives recently....May they rest in peace...

Cheers,
-Tim-
